Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Blonde, the highly-anticipated Andrew Dominik-directed biopic starring Ana de Armas as Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.

The NC-17-rated flick, which will premiere in competition on the Lido at this year’s Venice film festival, is one of the most anticipated films of the fall season.

The two-minute clip featured Armas dressed as Marilyn Monroe, ready to narrate the narrative of Hollywood’s most renowned diva. The film follows Monroe’s life from the beginning, based on the work of Joyce Carol Oates.

Previously, Armas shared her thoughts on the film as she noted, “The film moves along with her feelings and her experiences. There are moments when we are inside of her body and mind, and this will give the audience an opportunity to experience what it was like to be Norma and Marilyn at the same time,” per Just Jared.

As for the trailer, the short clip gave fans a taste of the blockbuster’s retro vibe as Armas was seen reviving some of the most remembered moments of the actress who conquered the hearts of millions. Slipping through the veil, the trailer shows the Turmoil Monroe faced while she was apparently at the peak of her success as the phrase pops up on the screen, “Watched by all, seen by none.”

In addition to de Armas, the cast includes Adrien Brody who stars as Arthur Miller, Bobby Cannavale, Caspar Phillipson, Evan Williams, Toby Huss, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher, Sara Paxton, David Warshofsky, Xavier Samuel, Michael Masini, Spencer Garrett, Chris Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky, Scoot McNairy, Dan Butler, Garret Dillahunt, Lucy Devito, and Ned Bellamy.

Producers are Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, and Scott Robertson, with Christina Oh as Executive Producer.

Blonde will be released globally on Netflix on September 23 after its Venice debut.
