Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy, broke records on its first day, becoming the greatest non-holiday day 1 grosser for a Bollywood film in net terms. The picture rose by 15% in practically all markets on Saturday and another 5% on Sunday, securing a box office weekend far in excess of Rs. 100 crore net. Following an impressive weekend total of Rs. 119 cr net across all languages, the picture performed well on its debut Monday, earning Rs. 14.25 cr in Hindi and Rs. 2 cr in dubbed languages, for a total of Rs. 16.25 cr net. The film passed the Monday litmus test since it held well despite coming from a high on Friday, which was a partial holiday in a few contributing circuits. Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva is on track to break the Rs. 250 crores net India milestone, making it the biggest grossing Hindi original of the year in India. Given the film’s high overseas figures, which are expected to surpass 10 million dollars by Tuesday, it is also expected to surpass a worldwide gross of Rs. 450 crores. Brahmastra topped the global box office last weekend, becoming only the third Indian film to do so after Master and RRR.
